How it works
- The doctor orders tests during the visit, or the lab registers a patient who walks in with a prescription.
- Lab staff collect payment and the sample, and the order moves into processing.
- Results are entered, checked against reference ranges and verified by the authorised person.
- The report prints on the hospital letterhead with a QR code, and the order is marked complete.
- The patient or the doctor scans the QR to open the report on a phone.
Who it is for
It is for hospitals and clinics with an in-house laboratory or sample collection point. Lab technicians and pathologists can have a login that opens only the laboratory module, so they do not see billing or OPD screens.
Key capabilities
- Test catalogue with parameters, units and reference ranges, editable by the lab.
- Worklists for OPD and IPD patients, with sample collection and registration slips.
- Result entry and verification, with each step recorded so you can see who did what.
- Reports with QR share links: the link is signed and expires, and shows only what the printed report shows.
- Lab trends for each patient across tests and visits.
- Packages of tests, outsourced tests and collection centres.
- Lab payments at the counter, including POS modes, linked to hospital billing.
- Reading outside reports: where enabled, results from a photo of a report can be drafted for staff to confirm.
Why does a QR link on a lab report matter?
Patients often lose printed reports or need to show them to another doctor. The QR on a Sehat Nxt report opens the same results on the hospital letterhead in a browser, without a login.
The link carries no files, staff names or phone numbers, and it stops working after it expires. Nothing is published on a public, unsigned URL.
| Step | Who does it |
|---|---|
| Order tests | Doctor, or lab desk for walk-ins |
| Collect sample and payment | Lab desk |
| Enter results | Lab technician |
| Verify and release | Authorised lab staff |
| Open report by QR | Patient or another doctor |
Running the lab day to day
Lab staff work from worklists for OPD patients, IPD patients and walk-ins. Each order shows whether the sample is collected, the result is entered and the report is verified, so pending work is easy to find.
A lab login can be limited to the actions that person does, such as entering results or verifying them. Each change to a result is recorded with the user and time, and a verified result can only be changed through a recorded revert.
Reports print on the hospital letterhead, and finished reports stay searchable for the patient's next visit.
How it connects to other modules
Orders come from the EMR and digital prescription screen and from IPD management. Lab charges reach hospital billing, and test consumables can be linked to stock in pharmacy and inventory.
Questions about Laboratory
Can patients see their report without a login?
Yes. The QR code on the printed report opens it in any browser. The link is signed and expires after a set period.
Can lab staff have a separate login?
Yes. A lab login opens only the laboratory module, so lab staff do not see OPD, billing or other modules.
Can doctors compare a patient's results over time?
Yes. Lab trends plot the same parameter across tests and visits, for example a platelet count from a CBC and from a separate test.
Do you support tests sent to an outside lab?
Yes. Tests can be marked as outsourced and tracked alongside in-house tests.
Is Sehat Nxt a LIMS?
Yes. The laboratory module works as a laboratory information management system (LIMS) inside the HMS: test catalogue, worklists, sample collection, result entry, verification and reports, linked to the doctor's orders and hospital billing.
