How it works
- The hospital sets each doctor's weekly OPD hours and slot length in the schedule settings.
- Sehat Nxt generates bookable slots for the coming days from that schedule.
- Patients find the doctor on www.sehatnxt.com or the mobile app and book a slot, verifying their mobile number with an OTP at booking.
- Where the hospital has enabled it, the patient pays online at booking.
- The booking appears in the doctor's queue for that day, next to walk-in patients from the front desk.
Who it is for
Appointment booking suits clinics that want fewer phone bookings and hospitals that run OPDs for several doctors with different timings. It works for a doctor with one clinic and for a doctor who sits at more than one facility, because booking settings are kept per doctor per facility.
Front-desk staff still book patients who call or walk in. Online booking adds a second channel; it does not replace the counter.
Key capabilities
- Weekly schedules per doctor with their own slot length, regenerated whenever the schedule changes.
- Contingency mode: date-specific OPD windows for a doctor who is travelling, on leave part of the week or covering extra hours.
- Extend slots for a single date when more patients need to be seen.
- Booking modes: live queue tracking (the patient follows the live queue) or priority booking (the booking is confirmed but does not move the live queue).
- Slot display: token number only, timings only, or both.
- Queue type: doctor-wise queues or one hospital queue for all doctors.
- Online payment at booking where the hospital turns it on, with booking fee rules set by the hospital.
- Patient self-service: patients can see their appointments, cancel, or move to the next available slot.
Choosing a booking mode
| Setting | Live queue tracking | Priority booking |
|---|---|---|
| What the patient gets | A token that moves live with the queue | A confirmed booking |
| Patient sees position and wait | Yes | No |
| Best for | Busy OPDs where waiting time varies | Doctors who see patients by fixed priority |
Most clinics start with live queue tracking because it reduces crowding in the waiting area. The mode can be changed later from the OPD booking settings.
Doctors at more than one facility
Many Indian doctors sit at a clinic in the morning and a hospital in the evening. Sehat Nxt keeps booking settings for each doctor at each facility, so one doctor can run live queue tracking at one place and priority booking at another.
Breaks and schedule changes apply only to the facility where they are made. Patients booking at one facility are not affected by changes at another.
How it connects to other modules
Every booking becomes a token in the live OPD queue. Video appointments are booked through the separate online slots described under teleconsultation.
Patients book through the patient app, and booking fees paid online show up in hospital billing and the doctor's earnings.
Questions about Appointments & OPD Scheduling
Can patients book without creating an account first?
Patients can browse doctors and hospitals on www.sehatnxt.com without logging in. They verify their mobile number with an OTP only when they book.
Can a doctor change timings for one week only?
Yes. Contingency mode sets date-specific OPD windows and generates slots only for those days. Switching back to regular mode restores the weekly schedule.
Do online bookings and walk-ins mix in the same queue?
Yes. In live queue tracking mode, online bookings and walk-in tokens appear in one queue for the doctor and the front desk.
Is online payment compulsory?
No. Online payment at booking is a hospital setting. Hospitals that prefer to collect at the counter can leave it off.
