How it works
- The doctor sets online availability and creates video slots, one at a time, in bulk, or as an instant slot.
- Patients book an online slot on www.sehatnxt.com or the mobile app.
- At the appointment time, the join button opens for both, and they meet in a video room in the browser.
- The doctor uses the clinical workspace or the digital notepad during the call.
- When the consultation is complete, the doctor sends the prescription and the patient sees it in their app.
Who it is for
It is for doctors who offer follow-ups or first visits by video, alongside their clinic OPD. Patients in other towns and patients who cannot travel can consult without visiting.
Teleconsultation in India should follow the Telemedicine Practice Guidelines; the doctor remains responsible for deciding whether a video consultation suits the patient.
Key capabilities
- Online slots: single, bulk and instant slots, kept separate from the OPD schedule.
- Availability centre to manage online hours and online breaks.
- Join window: the video room opens only around the appointment time, and only one active call runs at a time.
- Browser video room for the doctor and the patient.
- Online prescriptions: draft during the call, send when done, and see which patients have received theirs.
- Online consultation dashboard on desktop and mobile, with a patients list and analytics.
- Video consultation settings for the hospital.
Is teleconsultation software the same as telemedicine software?
For a clinic, mostly yes. Telemedicine software is the wider term for care given at a distance; teleconsultation is the doctor-patient video visit at its core. Sehat Nxt covers the teleconsultation part: online slots, booking, a browser video room and the prescription after the call.
OPD visit or video consultation
| Clinic OPD | Video consultation | |
|---|---|---|
| Booked from | OPD slots or walk-in | Online slots |
| Patient waits | In the live OPD queue | Until the join window opens |
| Prescription | Printed on letterhead | Sent to the patient's app |
A video day, step by step
The online consultation dashboard lists the day's video appointments in time order. The doctor sees who has booked, who is due next and whether a prescription has been sent after each call.
The join button opens only around the appointment time, so patients do not enter the room early during another patient's call. A consultation left open by mistake is closed automatically after its time, so the next patient can join.
Online analytics show how many video appointments the doctor has done over a period, next to clinic figures.
Doctors who work in a clinic and online on the same day can mark online breaks separately, so video patients are not booked into time the doctor spends in the OPD. The online availability page shows which slots are open, booked or blocked.
Patients see their booked video appointments in the app, with the time and the join button, so the clinic does not need to send meeting links by message.
How it connects to other modules
Online slots sit next to the clinic schedule described in appointments. Prescriptions use the same EMR and digital prescription tools, and patients book and join through the patient app.
Questions about Teleconsultation
Do patients need to install software for the video call?
No. The video room opens in the browser. Patients can also join from the Sehat Nxt mobile app.
Can I open a video slot right now?
Yes. Instant slots let a doctor open online time immediately when they have a free moment.
How does the patient get the prescription?
The doctor drafts it during the call and sends it when the consultation is complete. The patient sees it in their app.
Are video slots separate from my clinic OPD?
Yes. Online slots are managed separately, so clinic tokens and video appointments do not clash.
