How it works
- The doctor orders an imaging test from the OPD visit or the IPD admission, or the radiology desk registers a walk-in patient who brings a prescription.
- The desk schedules the scan and checks the patient in on arrival, which opens a study.
- The technician picks the study from the technician worklist and performs the scan.
- The radiologist opens the study from the radiologist worklist and writes the report: clinical history, technique, findings, impression and recommendations.
- The report is verified, then released, and printed as a PDF on the hospital's report layout.
What is a radiology information system (RIS)?
A radiology information system is the software that runs the work around a scan: who ordered it, when it is booked, who performed it, who reported it, and whether the report was checked before it was handed over. Sehat Nxt runs this inside the same HMS as your OPD, IPD and billing, so an imaging order is not written again at the radiology counter.
Who it is for
It is for hospitals with an X-ray or ultrasound room, multi-specialty hospitals with CT and MRI, and imaging centres that want imaging centre software connected to the referring doctor's orders and the billing desk. Radiology staff can have a login that opens only the radiology module.
Key capabilities
- Imaging orders from the OPD and IPD, with an orders list for the radiology desk.
- Scheduling and check-in: book a time for the scan and check the patient in when they arrive.
- Technician worklist filtered by modality, with the priority of each study shown.
- Radiologist worklist and reporting with sections for clinical history, technique, findings, impression and recommendations.
- Verification and release: a report cannot be released until it is verified, and the release time is recorded.
- Registration and patient list for walk-in patients, working the same way as the lab desk.
- Test catalogue and packages for radiology tests, with their prices.
- Smart report layout for printed reports, with the hospital's logo, a cover page and a disclaimer.
- Financial analysis of the radiology desk's income.
- PACS link: a study can hold a link to the hospital's existing PACS viewer. Images stay in the hospital's PACS; Sehat Nxt keeps identifiers only.
Which tests go to Radiology and which stay in the lab?
| Tests | Desk |
|---|---|
| X-ray | Radiology |
| Ultrasound, Doppler and echo | Radiology |
| CT and MRI | Radiology |
| Mammography, DEXA, OPG, barium studies and fluoroscopy | Radiology |
| ECG, TMT, Holter and other cardiology or neurology tests | Laboratory |
| Blood, urine and other pathology tests | Laboratory |
Because the desk is decided by the test itself, staff do not sort orders by hand. A hospital without a separate radiology team can keep Radiology switched off in settings, and imaging then stays on the lab desk as before.
Imaging for admitted patients
Under Radiology, the IPD Patients page lists admitted patients with imaging orders, next to the doctor's typed or handwritten order sheets. Each order sheet has an Add to bill action, so the scan is charged once on the admission.
With the upload only setting, the radiology team uploads the finished report as a PDF or image and adds the test to the bill, without typing the report into Sehat Nxt. Uploaded reports go to a private file store and open only through short-lived signed links, and the patient's case file shows who uploaded each report.
How it connects to other modules
Orders come from EMR and digital prescription and IPD management. Radiology charges reach hospital billing, and pathology tests run in the laboratory, which shares the registration, catalogue and report layout pages. Access is set per person in staff and roles. Plans from ₹999 per month.
Questions about Radiology & Imaging
Is Sehat Nxt a PACS?
No. Sehat Nxt is a radiology information system for orders, scheduling, worklists, reports and billing. Images stay in your hospital's PACS, and a study can carry a link to your PACS viewer.
Can the radiology team only upload reports for IPD patients?
Yes. With the upload only setting, reports for admitted patients are uploaded as a PDF or image and the test is added to the bill. The files are kept private and opened through signed links.
Do ECG and other cardiology tests go to Radiology?
No. ECG, TMT and Holter stay with the laboratory. Imaging such as X-ray, ultrasound, CT, MRI, mammography, DEXA and OPG goes to Radiology.
Can a report be released before it is checked?
No. A written report must be verified before it can be released, and the release time is recorded on the report.
